IS English grammar not taught in schools any more?
“Different from” and “opposite to” seem in many cases to have been reversed.
The latest quote in The Bolton News (September 6) is from a welcome to parents: “We promise to guide and nurture your child as they explore this new world that they have stepped into.”
In my school, we were taught never to end a sentence with a preposition.
The correct statement would have been: “We promise . . . this new world into which they have stepped.” Bring back the grammar schools!
