EXPECTATIONS are high for the next show at Walmsley Church- after the group scooped 10 nominations in the National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards for its ‘White Christmas’ production.

‘Me and My Girl’ will open at the Parish Hall Theatre in Christ Church, Egerton on April 25.

Set in the late 1930s, in Hampshire, Mayfair and Lambeth, the story tells of an unapologetically unrefined cockney gentleman named Bill Snibson, played by Joe Davies, who learns that he is the 14th heir to the Earl of Hareford.

However the love of his life- girlfriend Sally Smith, who is played by Vicky Wilson, does not fit the heir lifestyle.

The show includes the songs "The Sun Has Got His Hat On" and of course “Me And My Girl”.

Supported by an orchestra and full cast, including Julie Ogden as The Duchess of Dene, Sir John Tremayne played by Mike Taylor, Zara Horn and Jake Dufton as Lady Jaqueline and Gerald Bolinbroke and Mike Donohue as the eccentric family solicitor the production promises to be hit with audiences.

Main character Joe Davies, aged 59, said he is “over the moon” to be the leading man.

He added: “It is the most fun we have ever had putting this show together.

“It really is very funny.

“I have never done anything like this before so I am over the moon and very privileged to have been chosen for this part.

“I think audiences will really enjoy it.”

Mr Davies has been in the society since 2014 but said some members have been there for more than 40.

However they are constantly on the lookout for new talent.

He added: “The society is like a big family and we have some great talents.

“We would love to see some new faces.”

Me and my Girl will run from April 25 until April 30 and will begin at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 and concessions for senior citizens and children under 16, on Monday only are £8 and are available now.
