ORGANISERS of a two-day live music and entertainment event are on the hunt for performers to take to the stage.

Chorley Council is once again teaming up with the Creative Network to stage Chorley Live in October, which attracted more than 7,000 people to the town over two days last year.

Now in its fourth year, the 2016 event is even bigger with 30 venues around the town centre signed up to host the festival.

A wide variety of musical acts, including bands and solo artists covering all genres of music, are now being sought, as well as performers including comedians, dancers, magicians and ventriloquists.

Nigel Stewart, of the Creative Network, who will be organising the acts, said the event brings the town centre alive at night.

He said: “I have been staggered by the success of Chorley Live over the last three years: we have had so many positive comments about how great it is and how brilliant the atmosphere is in town.

“It is a great opportunity for acts to perform on a live stage in a variety of venues as part of a bigger event that will attract thousands of people over the weekend.

“The event has given acts the opportunity to play in front of large crowds and given them a platform to showcase their talent. We would love to hear from acts from previous years as well as new acts.

“The venues love it, the performers love it and the punters love it so it promises to be another great weekend where we give people fantastic memories of live entertainment.

“If you want to be involved let us know as soon as you can as we will be starting to organise the line-ups – we can’t promise everyone will be chosen, but we’d love to hear from everyone that is interested.”

Chorley Live will run from October 7 to 8, with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.

Venues include pubs, libraries, churches and restaurants.

Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, Cllr Peter Wilson, added: “Chorley Live has been a huge success over the last three years and this year’s festival is going to be even bigger and better.

“We have had an increase in the number of venues hosting this year and are also looking for some daytime acts on the Saturday to make Chorley the place to be that weekend.

“We want to include a wide variety of performers and it will be important that we have a lot of local acts taking part so they can showcase their talent, so I’d urge anyone interested in finding out more to get in touch with us.”
