MEMBERS of a theatre group have been in fits of giggles rehearsing for a murder comedy.

And Victoria Hall ADS is promising people plenty of laughter if they come to see Busybody, being staged from Thursday, May 1, to Saturday, May 3, at 7.15pm.

Set in a 1960s office block, it sees nosy-parker cleaner Mrs Piper, played by Anne Dixon, determined to outwit the grumpy Superintendent Baxter, played by Barry Massey, and solve a murder first.

Mayhem prevails in the witty play, which will be on in the Lower Theatre, Victoria Hall, Knowsley Street, Bolton, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience guessing.

Anne said: “It’s very funny indeed.

“We’ve had problems because we keep laughing.

“We are trying not to laugh on stage when we’re not supposed to be.

“Rehearsals are going very well.”

Written by Jack Popplewell, the cast also features Courtney Hargreaves, as typist Victoria Reynolds, Robert Goodier, as boss Mr Marshall, Natalie Quinn, as boss’ wife Mrs Marshall, Russell Hedley, as PC Goddard, Linda Massey, as private secretary Miss Selby, and Brendan Higgins, as accountant Mr Westerby.

Busybody will be at Victoria Hall on Thursday, May 1, Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, at 7.15pm.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £3 for concessions, phone Anne on 01706 551 123.
