CREATIVE youngsters had a wild time recreating the wonderful world of animals.

As one of their homework projects, children at Church Road Primary School were asked to create a wildlife habitat of their choice.

Talented youngsters recreated the magical world under the sea, the land of snow and ice where penguins have made their home, to the simplicity of people’s backyards.

Some children created wonderful sound effects for their “habitat”, while others used real plants.

Catherine Fenton, head of the school in Smithills, said: “The children made the habitats as part of a homework project.

“We said they could either do it on rainforests which they have been studying, or they could choose another one.

"Some of the children have been so creative, with sound effects of grass hoppers and spraying plants with water to create droplets.”
