A DINNERLADY swapped her apron for a pair of trainers on Sunday as she took part in the gruelling Tough Mudder challange.

Andrea Longworth who works at Prestolee Primary School in Radcliffe, charged round the 12-mile intensive assault course in an impressive four hours.

The mum-of-three raised £800 and was given a boost by the pupils who each donated £1 to her cause at the end of last term to have a non school uniform day.

The course, designed by British Special Forces, is an intensive test of endurance.

Ms Longworth, of Tanfield Drive, Stoneclough, said: “It was hard going but it was great fun.

“I started training at Helious Gym in January this year with some of my close friends who I do a lot of running with.

The 47-year-old added: “I decided to raise money for Reuben’s Retreat as I’m good friends with his mum Nicola and am very passionate about the charity.

“It’s such a massive achievement for us all. We’re all approaching the 50 mark and we smashed it in four hours. We’ve already signed up for next year.”

Reuben’s Retreat was set up to provide a place for families with sick children to build memories together.
