WHEN she walks through the iconic, smoky doors of Stars in Their Eyes, a teenage singer from Bolton will be hoping to dazzle viewers.

Kennedy Ross, aged 19, from Harwood, is appearing on comedian Harry Hill's revival of the popular ITV show tonight.

It features five contestants performing as a range of music stars, mimicking their vocals, moves and transformed by a team of make-up and wardrobe stylists.

Keeping her famous transformation under wraps, the former Canon Slade School pupil applied to go on the show after being told she sounds like the artist in question.

Miss Ross, who performs paid weekend gigs at pubs and clubs in areas including Oldham, Middleton and Blackburn, said: "People used to come up to me and say, will you sing this song?

"And then they would say, when I close my eyes you sound just like the singer I'm going to be.

"I really enjoy singing.

"I've loved it from a very young age, about five.

"My style is quite old school.

"I sing quite a lot of oldies — Elvis and The Temptations, Guns N' Roses, Queen.

"It's not the average 19-year-old's taste in music."

Miss Ross travelled to the studios in Hertfordshire earlier this month to be filmed for the show, which was first screened in the 1990s and fronted by Leslie Crowther, followed by Matthew Kelly and then Cat Deeley.

She said: "It was quite nerve-wracking obviously because it's the comeback.

"None of us knew what it was going to be like.

"We had filmed our VTs but we hadn't been shown anything else.

"We watched the first show which had mixed reviews from the public but we just took the week as it came."

Miss Ross, who also works at the Disney Store at the Trafford Centre, will not be able to watch tonight's show as she will be performing at a gig.

She said: "I will probably watch it on catch-up.

"The whole experience was brilliant.

"The people who we worked with were so amazing and made you feel so at home.

"The other contestants were amazing.

"It was like we had known each other for years.

"We were such close friends by the end of it.

"I do love singing.

"I would love to make a career out of it although I didn't do Stars in Their Eyes for that.

"It was so much fun."

To see Miss Ross' transformation and if she gets the audience vote to land a place in the grand final, tune into Stars in Their Eyes at 6:30pm tonight.
