MORE heavy wintry showers are expected in Bolton after many residents woke to snow and hail today.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning after sleet and snow swept across Greater Manchester, causing traffic delays across the North West.

Wind and possible gales will continue into tomorrow with the risk of snow settling in lower levels, which could turn icy, weather experts say.

Towards the end of the week the weather will brighten up, with some sunny spells, but will still remain cold with frost expected overnight on Wednesday, although it will feel drier and much more mild on Thursday and Friday.

However, there will be a drastic change by the weekend, with highs of 14C forecast on Saturday and Sunday.
