THE University of Bolton welcomed guests to its annual Gala Evening at the Octagon Theatre Bolton for a special performance of its latest production, Private Lives.

Private Lives is the set on a romantic evening in 1930s France, as Amanda and Victor are enjoying their first evening as newlyweds.

Director Elizabeth Newman’s production of this comedy has been lauded by local and national media alike.

The University is the Octagon’s principal sponsor, and also shares an active working and creative relationship with the theatre.

Last year the University of Bolton and Octagon Theatre announced a unique partnership development which will create a new degree programme, a new professorship and will give students and theatre audiences an exciting new experience.

An innovative BA (Hons) degree in Theatre will begin in September 2015, enabling students to study the critical and practical aspects of theatre in both university and professional settings.

Concluding the event, new Professor of Theatre at the University and former Octagon Artistic Director, David Thacker, thanked guests and made special reference to the Vice-Chancellor Prof George Holmes, for his "pivotal role" in the success of the Octagon and its productions.
