A BRAVE father of two who was diagnosed with an incurable cancer has organised a star-studded concert featuring critically acclaimed musicians.
Rod Alexander, aged 55, was diagnosed with myeloma in 2013 and has since worked tirelessly to fundraise for the little-known disease, which affects blood plasma cells found in bone marrow.
With the support of his wife Susan's company Russell and Russell solicitors, based in Bolton, he has organised Rod's Money for Myeloma concert, will be held at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on Saturday, June 20.
It will feature Justin Currie, lead singer of Del Amitri, and The Reads - who list Adrian Childs and Janice Long as fans. Other acts include MoCo, Mr Alexander's own band Poor Misguided Fools, singer songwriter Sophie de Winter and the Rock Choir.
Mr Alexander, who has so far raised £20,000 for the charity, said: "It is incurable, but I want to raise as much money as I can while I am still here for a little known charity which makes a big difference."
Tickets for the Justin Currie and Friends for Myeloma UK concert can be purchased at bridgewater-hall.co.uk or by phone on 0161 907 9000.
