A RADIO station is back on air for its sixth live broadcast, celebrating the community spirit, talent and pride of a Bolton estate.

Johnson Fold Community Radio is on air until Saturday with a packed schedule including live music, drama, news and youth shows.

Broadcasting from the Hope Centre, Tattersall Avenue, since Wednesday, it involves Johnson Fold residents keen to learn and develop new skills.

Producer Adam Slater said: "The team and I always knew that the first day would be a challenge — projects such as this can be full of inordinate pressures and out-of-comfort zones.

"It takes true mettle to take on such a task and each and every member of Johnson Fold Community Radio has demonstrated terrific passion and pride to make this challenge appear a walk in the park. That's the sign of true talent."

People can listen to the community radio project, on 87.7 FM and online at JohnsonFold.co.uk, featuring reports on local issues and community events, live music, top of the cops hosted by Smithills neighbourhood policing team, community and national news.

Pete Hopkinson, breakfast show presenter, said: "It has been an amazing couple of days since we started broadcasting and it seriously brings home the community spirit on Johnson Fold, watching everyone work together to create something as spectacular as this. It is truly humbling."

Martin Ellison, technician from Diversity in Barrier-Breaking Communications (DBBC), said: "The professional standard of Johnson Fold Community Radio team and their attention to detail in the content of the varied shows is a credit to all the hard work they have done to organise this yearly event.

"It has been a pleasure to work as part of this team for the duration of this broadcast, even if I do have to get up at 6.30am."

The four day event will culminate with a Close of Project Party at the Hope Centre, from 2pm on Saturday.

The gathering will be attended by all of the 2015 presenters, behind-the-scenes team, family and friends.
