A LITTLE Lever resident is demanding action after her car was crashed into 10 times in just 18 months outside her house.

Angry Lynda MacNeill says cars are constantly colliding with her Volkswagen Sharan which she parks on the road outside her terraced home in Hill Top, Little Lever.

The 67-year-old is currently handling three separate insurance claims and estimates the cost of the frequent repairs to have reached £2,500.

Mrs MacNeill says she has repeatedly reported the issues in to Bolton Council, but been told that nothing can be done to widen the road.

Having moved into the house in 2013 following a divorce, Mrs MacNeill has had the wing mirror of her car broken twice, while the rear and side bodywork has been frequently scratched and bashed.

The council said it "sympathised" with Mrs MacNeill but said accident statistics for the road did not warrant them taking any further action.

In none of the cases has the driver responsible for the accident stopped to provide details.

Mrs MacNeill said: "I have repeatedly reported this to Bolton Council, and they say they can't do anything to widen the road or make it one way as it would cost too much money.

"They say that the area may become a restricted 20 mph area but nothing has happened yet, and I don't see how that will help.

"There was a head on crash outside my house last year and my neighbour's car was hit by a drunk driver. Surely something can be done."

She added: "One weekend the car was hit three times.

"I am at a loss now really. I've no idea what can be done. There seems no point in trying to do anything about it.

"The damage has not been really big but it is just so frustrating.

"Nobody has been hurt but someone might be eventually."

A council spokesman said: “We sympathise with this resident but unfortunately we have no control over driver behaviour and accident statistics show that there has only been one slight accident in the last five years in that location, which does not warrant us taking any further action.

"We would urge motorists to drive carefully and considerately.”
