THE University of Bolton is celebrating after moving up the league tables.

It has gone up eight places in the table published this week.

It is now placed 105 out of 119 in the The Guardian University League Tables 2016 —up from 113 last year.

Vice Chancellor Professor George Holmes said: "To leap up eight places is great — onwards and upwards."

The tables measure universities on a factors including course, teaching and feedback satisfaction as well as getting a career after six months — where 57.8 per cent go on to find graduate-level jobs, or are studying further, within six months of graduation.

A spokesman for the University of Bolton said: “The university has been celebrating with the news of moving significantly up the league tables, reflecting the high levels of student satisfaction particularly with the feedback staff gave them on their work.

“This is a positive achievement for the university and represents the outcomes of the strategy and developments that have been implemented with the full support of university staff.

“One of the main aims of the university is to provide students with life long experience that they can take into their chosen industry by providing them with hands on work experience throughout their course.

“The results prove that we are moving in the right direction as employability figures have risen along with students who are satisfied with the their course.”

Student Union President Arthur Kaddu congratulated the Prof Holmes on his hard work.

He said: “This is really good news that we have moved up the table by a long mile.”

Top of the table was Cambridge University followed by Oxford.

Bottom of the table was Bucks New University.
