WHEN Joyce Lee went shopping for her big day she loved the wedding dress but not the experience of buying a budget off the peg gown.

And so determined was she that brides on a budget should not have to forgo the five star treatment she has opened her own bridal boutique, Dreams Come True Bridal Boutique.

She set up the shop, in Belmont Road, so brides on a budget can still enjoy the experience of shopping for their big day.

Mrs Lee, from Egerton, who was business manager at Manchester based Prosperity in Mind, decided to set up Dreams Come True Bridal Boutique after her own wedding, when she had to buy a dress within weeks after her and partner David Lee — parents to Jessica, aged 20, Chloe, aged 18 and Caden, aged seven— decided to get married at short notice.

Family holidays before the date of the wedding last September meant there was no time to shop the traditional way of choosing a dress was not possible and off the peg dress was the only option

She explained: "We had been talking about getting married for a year and we saw a package at The Last Drop and decided at short notice to book it.

" I didn't have a budget but an off the peg dress was the only option.

"I loved the dress but I did not enjoy the experience of shopping for it.

"I saw the shop was to let and as a business manager saw what a fantastic position it was in, I made some enquiries and sourced the stock.

"It is a family business."

Mrs Lee added: "I think all brides should be made to feel special and like a princess when buying their wedding dresses, whatever their budget is.

"Brides to be will be offered a glass of bucks fizzy and made to feel special.

"We can book slots so brides feel relaxed when choosing the dress."

The dresses in the shop are currently priced from £80 to £800, and Mrs Lee is introducing the popular American concept of layaway, where brides can pay a £50 deposit for a dress under £500 and £100 for those over £500, and pay off instalments all the way to collection.

Mrs Lee, aged 36, who got married last September, said: "The dresses are off the peg but we have sourced local businesses to do alterations to keep the cost down, and the customer won't have to find a business that does that."
