IT'S time to dig out your favourite superhero costume — Comic-con is returning to Bolton.

A host of famous faces will take centre stage at the annual convention which celebrates sci-fi, comics and film — including Doctor Who monster Jon Davey.

Since 2005 he has played a variety of parts in more than 30 episodes of the BBC1 show, including Cybermen, Daleks, Ood, Jadoon, Hath, Heavenly Host, Vigil and Wispermen.

He has performed live at many events including The Doctor Who Proms and Doctor Who Live and Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular in Australia and New Zealand.

This year will also see live prosthetics and zombie make up demonstrations, a full size X-Wing fighter from Star Wars, a DeLorean from Back to the Future and Batman's 1989 Batmobile.

Red Dwarf star Norman Lovett will also be making an appearance at the show, which organiser Paul Prescott promises to be Bolton's biggest yet.

He said: "This year is going to be fantastic. We have full-size model cars, live demos, celebrity question and answer sessions, an Ironman display where you can have your picture taken and even a Jedi academy where you can learn the ways of the Force.

"There will be retro gaming areas. We've hired a museum with a selection of old classics like the Sega Megadrive and Nintendo 64 so people can go back in time and play games like Alex Kidd and Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Of course people are welcome to dress up too, which is all part of the fun. It is a film and sci-fi lover's paradise."

The event will take place at the Whites Hotel at the Macron Stadium in Horwich on Saturday, September 5.

Mr Prescott, who organises a similar event in his hometown of Wigan, said: "I started organising these events because I have young children myself and I know how hard it is to keep them entertained in the summer holidays. I wanted to take my three kids to the comic-con in London but by the time you pay for the train, a hotel and your tickets, it can run into hundreds of pounds. So instead I decided to bring a piece of the show up to Bolton."
