Bolton Lads and Girls Club won £10,000 for its Buddies 4 Boys scheme.

The organisation will use the funding to deliver training for men who will become mentors for boys in Bolton.

The money will provide youngsters with a positive role model and encourage them to take part in positive activities rather than causing trouble.

The organisation will use the cash to run a fun day, promoting their group and training volunteers to support children with autism.

Lyn Cole, Big Lottery Fund, England Grant Making Director, said: “Whether it is supporting homeless people to find accommodation, keeping vulnerable women and children safe, or enabling those with physical and mental illness to gain more confidence and independence, these projects will make a huge difference to the lives of many. These projects are excellent examples of people working together to help others in their community including supporting them to attain the skills they need to realise their potential.”

The Forwards Centre in Bolton was given £9,975 to deliver a series of holiday activities for pupils with behavioural issues, including horse riding, sports and family fun days.

Friends of Birtenshaw will get £10,000 to develop a community interaction project so they can support young people with disabilities aged 18 to 25.
