A DAD who assaulted the mother of his daughter following a row about child support has been ordered to pay her £1,000 compensation.

At Bolton Crown Court Gavin Howie, prosecuting, told how Philip Wild had split with the woman following a three-year relationship 12 years ago.

She was pregnant at the time but the couple resumed their on-off relationship last year.

However, after drinking in the garden on June 15, 38-year-old Wild and the woman got involved in a discussion about the Child Support Agency and Wild "flipped."

He slapped her and then pushed her backwards, causing her to fall and fracture her elbow.

Colin Buckle, defending, said Wild, a father-of-three, of Kentmere Road, Breightmet, was remorseful.

He pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm.

Judge Peter Davies told Wild: "She was your long-term partner and the mother of your daughter and, as such, deserves respect.

"It is more than unacceptable behaviour — it is just plain wrong."

Wild was sentenced to a community order for two years and must do 200 hours unpaid work as well as undertaking 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
