SESSIONS run by Bolton Music Service have been moved to the Victoria Hall after its Trust Music shop was targeted by vandals.

Yobs smashed through the front window and threw instruments onto the street.

Vandals struck at the Knowsley Street base smashing their way into the shop and removing the instruments, which were then dumped in the street.

The vandals took a harp, a number of brass instruments and an electric guitar before leaving them in the street.

Bolton Music Service was forced to suspend its popular music sessions for the community until the shop had been repaired.

But they have now resumed in the hall.

The organisation is now working hard to ensure it is business as usual — with the launch of a new project, where adults of all ages can go to their very own Rock School.

Patricia Tremayne, business development and fundraising manager, said: "It is sad but things like this do happen. We have very kindly been allowed to hold our session in the Victoria Hall.

"The police recovered all the instruments, which had been left outside."

Repairs to the shop front are now being carried out and it is hoped the service will be able to move back in later this week.

Mrs Tremayne said: "We have to concentrate on the positives, sessions are still going ahead and we want people to know that.

"We have another exciting project that we are starting called Rock of Ages and this is at Castle Hill Youth Centre.

"This is for adults who want to play electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards or sing in a band type setting using the latest Jampod technology."

A taster session will be held on Wednesday at 10.30am and everyone is welcome.

Mrs Tremayne added: "After the break-in, we really need to get the support and let everyone know that this taster session is happening."

The Rock of Ages is for all adults, those who would like to learn an instrument, to those in a band and would like to use an instrument and to community groups.

Mrs Tremayne said: "Adults of any age can come along and find out more and the health and wellbeing benefits of music, which including making new friends, self-confidence and learning a new skill."
