Deane woman gets community order for black market cigarettes and tobacco

A WOMAN has been sentenced for her role in making black market cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco available in Bolton.

Kristina Kovacova admitted being knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of duty on August 25.

She pleaded guilty at Bolton Crown Court last Tuesday in a prosecution brought by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.

The 28-year-old was given a six-week community order and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Kovacova, of Cambria Street, Deane, was made subject to an electronically-monitored 7pm to 7am curfew.

Assault man given court costs bill

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to pay £360 in costs and charges after he admitted assault.

Mateusz Wojtacki, aged 21, of Westwood Road, Bolton, caused actual bodily harm to Rebwar Hamahyar on November 22 last year.

Heaton man must pay £300 compensation after damaging TV set

A 24-YEAR-OLD man who damaged a TV set and committed a public order offence has been sentenced.

Danny Boardman, of Queensgate, Heaton, has to pay compensation of £300 after damaging the television on January 19.

He admitted one count of criminal damage and one of causing harassment, alarm or distress at Bolton Magistrates' Court last Tuesday.

Boardman received a nine-month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement.

No victim surcharge or court costs were ordered to be paid.

Darcy Lever man fined for having amphetamine

A DARCY Lever man has been fined for possession of drugs.

Mark Hood, of Bowstone Rise, was found with an unspecified quantity of amphetamine, a class B drug, on December 9 last year.

He admitted drug possession on Tuesday at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 29-year-old was fined £80 and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Footwear thief stole £27 pair of trainers from Bolton's TK Maxx store

A FOOTWEAR thief has been sentenced to a conditional discharge lasting a year.

Paul Kenyon, aged 38, shoplifted a pair of trainers worth £27 from TK Maxx in Bolton Shopping Park in Trinity Street in Bolton town centre on January 17.

He admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Kenyon, of Duke Street, Halliwell, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85.

Sex offender fails to tell police of whereabouts and is jailed for six months

A SEX offender has been jailed for half a year.

Daniel Montroy, aged 28, was obliged - as a result of a previous conviction - to notify the police on a weekly basis of the fact that he had no fixed address or to tell them if he had found a permanent address.

But he failed to do so between December 23 and February 1.

Montroy, of Highfield Road, Farnworth, admitted breaching the court order at Bolton Magistrates' Court last Tuesday. 

He was sent to jail for 26 weeks and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Community order for woman over benefit lies

A BENEFIT cheat has been given a community order and a curfew for lying on official forms by saying she was single.

Donna Wass failed to divulge to the Department for Work and Pensions that she and partner Neil Wilson were actually living together as husband and wife.

She therefore received income support between September 2013 and September 2014 and housing benefit between September 2013 and September 2014 to which she was not entitled.

She also applied for an employment support allowance in September 2014 at Bolton's JobCentre Plus and again failed to mention she was married.

Wass admitted three counts of dishonestly making a false representation on Tuesday at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 41-year-old of Wordsworth Avenue, Farnworth, was sentenced to a four-month community order.

She was made subject to an 8pm to 7am electronically-monitored curfew.

Wass was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and prosecution costs of £85.

Motorist admits drink-driving

A DRINK driver has been banned from behind the wheel for three years.

Catherine Campbell drove her Peugeot 206 in Wigan Road, Bolton, on January 15 and gave a positive breathalyser reading at the side of the road.

She admitted drink driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court last Tuesday.

Campbell, aged 31, of Birley Street, Astley Bridge, was given a nine-month community order that included a 9.30pm to 7am curfew and a rehabilitation activity.

She was disqualified from driving for 36 months and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Double Boxing Day thief from Farnworth gets community order

A TEENAGE thief who struck twice on Boxing Day has been sentenced.

Ashley Murphy-Hayes received two conditional discharges, each for 12 months, at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after admitting two counts of theft.

Murphy-Hayes stole various items worth a combined £70 belonging to Beryl Jackson in Bolton on December 26.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £7.50, a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85.

The 19-year-old stole various items, worth a total of £14, belonging to Ganaly Ngouunou in Bolton on December 26.

Murphy-Hayes, of Brookhouse Avenue, Farnworth, was ordered to pay compensation of £7.

Officer assault woman spared jail

A WOMAN who assaulted a policewoman and a detention officer has been spared jail.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Emma Jones, aged 34, of Claremont Court, Bolton, admitted assaulting the police officer on December 2 last year and a detention officer on New Year's Day.

She was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and will be subject to 12 months supervision by the probation service.

Jones was also told she must undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £150 compensation to each of her victims.

Woman fined over racist assault

A WOMAN who damaged a door, assaulted a man and used threatening behaviour has been sentenced to a community order by Bolton magistrates.

Susan Draper, aged 47, of Firwood Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to the racially aggravated assault of Mohammed Masood on December 21 last year and behaving abusively towards him as well as causing damage, estimate at £500, to a front door belonging to Greencore Housing a day earlier.

She was fined £40 and ordered to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activity as well as paying £100 compensation and £145 in costs and charges.

Knife man spared jail

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a suspended prison term after he admitted carrying a kitchen knife in public.

Jon Watson, aged 28, of Nuttall Avenue, Little Lever, committed the offence in Brackley Street, Farnworth, on February 2.

He was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months and also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs plus an £80 victim surcharge.
