Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the discovery of a man's body.

On Friday, April 29, 2016, officers from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team arrested two men, aged 37 and 34, on suspicion of murder.

A third man, aged 29, was arrested on Sunday, May 1, also on suspicion of murder.

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 3 2016, officers recovered the body of a man, believed to be from Bolton, from Yarrow Reservoir in Hodge Brow, Rivington. 

A Home Office post-mortem examination is ongoing and the man has not yet been formally identified.

The 37-year-old man remains in police custody for questioning, while the two men, aged 34 and 29, have been bailed pending further police enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick from Greater Manchester Police said: "As part of an investigation being carried out by the Major Incident Team, we have this morning recovered the body of a man from a reservoir in Lancashire.

"We have made three arrests in connection with this man's death, which we are treating as a murder, and our enquiries remain very much ongoing to establish the events leading up to this man's tragic death.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have any information that may assist police with their enquiries to please get in touch with us and tell us what they know. We will provide updates to the public on this investigation as soon as we have more details that we can release."
