A TINY baby was given a funeral fit for a princess thanks to generous well wishers.

Twin baby girl Daisy Errington died on May 20, at just four-months-old, after developing septicaemia.

On top of their grief, parents Charlene and Stephen were faced with the worry of paying for her funeral —which they wanted to be princess themed in her memory.

But the couple were overwhelmed with donations after an appeal through the Bolton News captured the hearts of the town and were given enough money to give their daughter "the perfect day"— complete with a horse drawn carriage and pink coffin.

Mrs Errington, aged 33, of Brooklyn Avenue, Farnworth, said: "I was absolutely over the moon with all the help we received. A man who wants to remain anonymous donated the money for the horse drawn carriage.

"When he turned up at my house I couldn’t believe it, I was speechless. For someone to offer that it just blew me away."

Daisy and her twin sister Rosy were born on January 8, at 28 weeks and weighed just 2lb 2oz.

The baby girls were put on ventilation machines in Royal Bolton Hospital’s Neonatal-Unit for a week but Daisy contracted Swine Flu and was transferred to Alder Hey. Despite fighting the infection she then developed chronic lung disease and septicaemia and died.

Her funeral was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Friday followed by a celebration of her life at Our Lady of Lourdes club.

Thanks to the generosity of the public and with money raised via a just-giving-page the family were able to fulfill their dream of giving Daisy her princess send-off.

Mrs Errington added: "I think she would have loved it. She was always one for attention, she would literally wake up deliberately just for a bit more attention. I think she would have been sitting up saying 'that was everything that I wanted'. I know she would have."

The family, who have three other children, Ethan seven, Ella Louise, five, and Kyle two, dressed twin Rosy in the same outfit as Daisy and played songs such as 'This little light of mine', 'He's got the whole world in his hands', and 'As I kneel before you'.

The mother-of-five added: "It was the last time I would be able to dress them the same so I put them in exactly the same outfit, down to their vests. Everyone wore pink, even the horses were adorned in pink.We were given the room and decorations at the club for half price.

"A lady had heard that I couldn't afford to have Daisy's name spelled out in flowers so she halved the price. I am just so thankful to everyone.

"It was definitely a day fit for a princess. I don’t think there was anything else that I could have wanted.

"Daisy's brother Ethan wanted to say something for her too and stood up on stage and said 'I miss you Daisy and I love you'.

"I just can't thank everyone enough. Everything was just perfect for her."
