A MAN has been charged with assisting the man accused of murdering Bolton grandfather Darren McMinn.

Nicholas Hindle, aged 23, of Crosby Road, Heaton, appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of assisting Candido Pereira between April 11 and April 13.

The charge Hindle faces is “between April 11 2016 and April 13 2016 at Bolton without lawful authority or reasonable excuse did an act, namely assist an offender, namely Candido Pereira, in the murder of Darren McMinn with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of Candido Pereira who had committed the offence of murder, knowing or believing him to be guilty of the offence or some other offence which carries a term of imprisonment of five years or more.”

Hindle was remanded in custody and the case was sent to Bolton Crown Court where a hearing will take place on August 24.

Pereira, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, is to stand trial at Manchester Crown Court on October 17 accused of murdering Mr McMinn.

Mr McMinn’s body was discovered in the Yarrow Reservoir in Hodge Brow, near Rivington, on May 3.

The 48-year-old was last seen on April 11 and his disappearance sparked a missing person inquiry.
