CARNIVAL fever Brazil style was enjoyed in Bolton.
As golden boy Jason Kenny was winning his Olympic medal, the town was enjoying Samba de Janerio.
A Samba workshop was held in Bolton to introduce people to the popular Brazilian music which thanks to the Rio Games is taking the world by storm.
The workshop was led by drumming professional Colin Seddon, who staged a beginners’ session and a masterclass.
Barry Seddon, Colin’s father who helped organise the workshop, said: “We had around 40 people turn up and it went brilliantly.
“Colin was very good with the children, encouraging them to play the drums and all played something.
“They enjoyed it and went away with a smile on their faces.”
As well as beginners, musicians also attended.
Mr Seddon, who plays in a Samba band, said: “They wanted to widen their horizons and how they use the rhythm in their own music.”
He added: “The musicians start playing on their own concentrating on keep the rhythm right and then they feel part of something and the music just carries them together.
Money raised from the event went to supporting local Samba band Bloco-Mundo which performs at events in Bolton and throughout Greater Manchester.
