STAR pupil Ben Gregory is one of Canon Slade School’s highest performers achieving 6A* and 5As.
The 16-year-old will now go on to study A-levels at the sixth form and pursue his dream of becoming an engineer.
He said: “I did work hard, I pretty much gave up everything and studied in the run-up to my exams.
“Without these grades I would not have been able to get on the course I wanted.
“I am over the moon.”
The school saw 71 per cent of its pupils achieve five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.
A* and A grades rose by almost one per cent this year with A* to B up by almost 1.5 per cent and three quarters of all grades achieved were C or above. Headteacher Alan Mottershead said: “These good results rely on the excellent work across more than 10 subjects for most students and are testimony also to the high quality of teaching and support which they have received.
“Congratulations to all students and best wishes to each as they move forward in September.”
