This week’s nomination is an iconic, multi award-winning ale from the Titanic brewery based in Stoke-on-Trent. A porter style beer that has forged an excellent reputation nationally, over many years.

Their Plum Porter ale(4.9%)has an aura about it, in my humble opinion. It pours deep ruby red in colour. Although you wouldn’t necessarily notice this until you hold it up to the light, in order to view it more closely.

The intense aroma has rich, dark, stone fruit, caramel malt and a hint of roasted grain. Plum, blackcurrant, caramel, dark chocolate and a hint of liquorice are flavours that are identified. They all married to perfection.

There was more plum fruit and subtle roasted grain in the drying, fruity, bittersweet finish.

Plum Porter is one of the finest porter style beers on the planet, in my opinion. It is moreish, mouthwatering and immensely appetising. A silken, deliciously complex flavoured ale, in exceptional condition, at the Craven Heifer, Harle Syke, Burnley.
