Free films will be shown in the New Year as part of the Warm Spaces Initiative.

Cinema at the Crescent has been running for several years, offering free film screenings in the Lecture Theatre at Bolton Central Library.

A family favourite is shown at 1pm on the second Saturday of every month and classic films are shown on the second Wednesday each month during Silver Screenings.

And starting in the new year, films will be shown every Wednesday at 2pm as part of Bolton Libraries Warm Spaces initiative.

Weekly screenings will start on January 4 with more listings to be confirmed.

Bolton Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Hilary Fairclough said the council is delighted to offer a warm place to enjoy a film completely free of charge to the community.

She said: “For many years, Cinema at the Crescent has offered families and film lovers in Bolton the chance to enjoy free screenings every month.

“This offer is now being increased as part of our Warm Spaces initiative to help residents who may be struggling by the rising cost of heating their homes.

“It is a challenging time for many of our residents and I am delighted we are able to offer the chance to keep warm and enjoy a film completely free of charge.”
