It seemed rather fitting that my final beer review of 2022 came courtesy of one my favourite Yorkshire breweries. Keighley based Wishbone Brewery can always be relied on to provide a quality brewed cask conditioned ale.

Their American style IPA, Short Supply, was a one-off beer, that I was fortunate to witness on the bar at the splendid Bowland Brewery Beer Hall in Clitheroe.

The ale had a dark golden colour, with a tight, white head. And boasted a powerful aroma of tropical fruit, grapefruit and a hint of peppery spice.

The complexity of flavours were outstanding and beautifully balanced. Bready malt and juicy citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit were identified. In addition to some luscious mango and dark berry fruit. I also detected a subtle floral flavour on the palate.

There was more pronounced tangy fruit, soft, bready malt, spicy warmth and subtle earthy notes, that lingered long on the palate.

An absolutely stunning IPA. A strong, lip-smacking, deep flavoured brewing masterpiece, in exceptional condition. Arguably one of my favourite beers of 2022.

Finally, may I wish you all a very Happy New Year.
