Beer connoisseur and passionate pub campaigner, Mark gives us his decision on the tastiest beer he has sampled in the last seven days.
This week’s outstanding beer highlight comes courtesy of Falmouth(Penryn)based, Verdant Brewing Company. The Cornish brewer has forged an excellent reputation and immense popularity for their innovative, juicy, hop-forward, hazy beers, since their inception in 2014.
Their New England style pale ale, Marylou, was a golden, hazy, strong beer with a white, fluffy head. It boasted quite a healthy ABV of 5.2%.
A strong gush of tropical fruit and tart lemon aromas filled the air, as I cracked open the can. More juicy tropical fruit and citrus flavours filled the mouth. A complex array that included pineapple, canned peaches, mandarin orange and some soft gooseberry and subtle piney notes: a clean, refreshing taste.
Bittersweet tropical fruitiness and a hint of spicy warmth was identified in the long, lingering, drying aftertaste.
Yet another delicious, thirst-quenching, brewing masterpiece off the Verdant production line. A quite stunning, rich, fruity, deep-flavoured, offering.
