Beer connoisseur and passionate pub campaigner, Mark gives us his decision on the tastiest beer he has sampled in the last seven days.
This week’s outstanding beer came courtesy of the Fell Brewery based in Flookburgh, Grange -over-Sands, Cumbria. A most popular and well established independent craft brewer, who have been rolling out first-class, innovative and traditional beers since 2013.
Their Tinderbox West Coast style IPA (6.3%) is always a joyous sight on the bar. A beer with a golden-coloured presentation and a white fluffy head.
Complex and intense aromas of pine, grapefruit and resin-like hop notes were present. There was also a mild hint of honey sweetness on the nose.
More piney hops and juicy grapefruit flavours filled the mouth. They balanced well with the notes of light caramel and subtle pineapple sweetness that were identified.
There was more pine and tangy fruit bitterness in the lingering, dry finish.
There’s an aura about this awesome beer. A powerfully flavoured, lip-smacking delight. A dangerously moreish ale that was in exceptional condition at the Beer Engine micropub in Skipton.
