The world of virtual reality has arrived in Bolton with the opening of a new gaming centre.

Game Vault has opened in The Vaults with an official launch taking place on Monday.

It has a has a range of arcade games and VR for every age group in the family.

There are roller-coaster simulations and racing sims with people being able to experience life in the International Space Centre and even the beach for those looking to just relax.

The Bolton News were invited to try the games first-hand.

We tried the motorbike simulation first and there were plenty of options to try, even for people who aren’t fond of quick thrills – there’s slower ones.

Once strapped in with the headset, the experience feels very real through the hi-tech simulation.

It even comes with a warning for people who may feel motion sickness, because this ride jolts the seat left and right with the rider being virtually propelled through a space racetrack, an exhilarating experience not to be missed.

This is a new venture for Bolton and even Craig Holden, who owns the Game Vault alongside his brother, Martin, who said he had never tried VR prior to the venture.

Craig said: “We had a soft opening for family and friends, and it went down a treat.

“I have never used VR before, so I invited everyone to have a go, and all the kids and adults loved it.

“It goes from one extreme to another and the VR can simulate educational things too like floating in the space centre or exploring Saturn.”

As well as the exciting VR experiences, there’s the classic Pacman, air hockey, car racing, first person shooter games, interactive darts, dancing, and heaps of children’s games like frog jump, where they hit the frogs jumping up to score points.

Every game takes game coins bought from the front desk, with £5 for five tokens, £10 for 12 tokens, and £20 for 25 tokens.

Anyone can turn up on the day to try out the games.
