Police have warned people about an increase in attempted trespassing into homes in the early hours.

Officers say that several houses were targeted on Oxford Street and Holden Road in the Leigh area earlier this week on Tuesday, November 28.

They have warned members of the public to remain vigilant after receiving several reports of people in this area trying to get in to houses between midnight and 4am.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We have received an increase in reports of people attempting to gain access to residential properties between the hours of 12am and 4am.

“On November 28, 2023 multiple houses were targeting on Oxford Street and Holden Road in Leigh.

“Please contact the police on 101 with any information including CCTV or ring doorbell footage if you see anything suspicious.”

Police have not as yet released any further details about the people they believe to be behind the attempted entries into houses or what their motives are.

But this comes amid long running concerns about burglary and attempted burglary not just in Leigh but all across the Greater Manchester city region in recent months and years.
