Here’s a great aerial photograph from December 1981 showing Bolton town centre.
The splendid curve of Le Mans Crescent is easily recognisable towards the top of the picture with the town hall in front.
You can also see that although it’s called the Octagon, Bolton’s renowned theatre is actually a six-sided building or hexagon.
