A man has been charged by police after he allegedly "threw chairs around" at a community group. 

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers arrested the man, aged 32,  who has been accused of causing the disturbance at Horwich Library yesterday, Monday. 

He was charged with a public order offence, having reportedly been "acting in a disorderly manner" and "throwing chairs around", causing members of the public to fear for their safety. 

He will appear in court today, Tuesday.

A spokesperson from GMP said: "Yesterday, January 8, officers from the Horwich neighbourhood team responded to reports of a male causing a disturbance at a community group which was taking place within Horwich library.

"A 32-year-old male was arrested on scene for a public order offence. 

"The male had reportedly been throwing chairs around and acting in a disorderly manner which caused members of the public to fear for their personal safety. 

"The male was arrested and taken into police custody where he was charged and remanded over night to appear at court today, January 9."
