Two of the five youngsters who narrowly escaped serious injury when a tree was blown down in a gale returned to the phone box in which they were trapped in February 1988
The ‘Horwich phone box drama’ as it was dubbed by the Bolton News at the time saw Wayne Close and John Cooper along with pals Shaun Dixon, Maxine Crowther and Samantha Grundy needing the emergency services to free them from the phone box on Ainsworth Avenue.
The remains of the large tree which had blown down, trapping them in the phone box can be seen in the background.
The five teenagers were left shocked but otherwise unharmed by the incident.
