A man has been bailed following an alleged 'altercation' on a street in Farnworth

Police say a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public order offences following the incident on Harper Green Road on Tuesday, January 30 at around 8.45am. 

The man, who has not been named, has since been bailed. 

The incident was witnessed by people including parents of pupils at nearby Harper Green School. 

In a message to parents, a spokesperson for Harper Green School said: "You may be aware that there was an incident in the local area this morning.

"Please note that this was not within school and be assured that the incident has been appropriately dealt with by the police."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of an altercation on Harper Green Road, Farnworth shortly before 8.45am on Tuesday 30 January 2024.

"A 41-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of public order offences. He has since been bailed."

Bolton South MP Yasmin Qureshi added: " I have seen many concerned online about an incident. I am assured that the police have matters in hand and I hope further clarification can made on what happened to reassure the local community."
