A well-established Bolton curry house has been honoured as one of the most “outstanding” in the country at a national award ceremony.

The Royal Balti House, on Market Street in Farnworth, was handed the “Organiser’s Choice of the Year” accolade at the 2024 Nation’s Curry Awards ceremony earlier this week.

The awards recognise outstanding curry houses all over the country and for the Royal Balti House this comes after years of dedicated services.

Owner Atikur Sabur said: “We were nominated for Best curry restaurant in the North West.

"But our journey ended as just nominated as finalists.

“However we were surprised to know that the Nation's Curry Award chose us as the most outstanding restaurant in the UK competing against the likes of restaurants all over England, Scotland and Wales.

“For a small family run business which has been located in Bolton for the past 35 years this is such a prestigious award to receive!”

The award is the latest in a long line of accolades given to the Royal Balti House in recent years.

These include Takeaway of the Year at the 2023 Asian Restaurant Awards, Best Restaurant in the North West in the English Curry Awards 2022 and being finalist for best chef that same year.

The Nation’s Curry Awards ceremony was held at a packed ceremony at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate, Manchester on Monday February 12.

Along with the Farnworth’s Royal Balti House, several other Greater Manchester based restaurants were honoured.

These included Radcliffe’s Exotic Lounge, which was honoured with the Best of Manchester award, while Little Hulton’s Spice n Sprits was awarded Outstanding Restaurant of the Year.
