An investigation has been launched after "high value" plant equipment was stolen from an electricity substation in Farnworth. 

The equipment was taken from the Electricity Northwest substation on Campbell Street, near Partridge Close, at around 11am on Saturday, February 10.

A one tonne white dumper (Terex – HD1000) and an orange 0.8 tonne excavator and buckets (Kubota – K008), both on hire from GAP Plant, were taken.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.

PC Kristina Laundon, of Greater Manchester Police's Bolton district, said: “Following the report this weekend we have conducted a number of lines of enquiries and now want to appeal to the public to see if they can assist us further.

“We are particularly keen to speak to people in the local community if they saw something suspicious at the time in broad daylight or if these two specific models of equipment have been offered for sale for a price that may be too good to be true.”
