Soapstar Amy Nuttall has dedicated a song in tribute to her mum after she tragically died from a brain tumour.

Taking to her X account, the Blackburn-born former Emmerdale actress says she decided to “do something that would help” with her grief.

Her mum Elaine Nuttall was a familiar face to many theatre goers having appeared in many productions in the area.

Elaine lived in Tonge Moor, Horwich and Lostock, before moving with her family to Hoghton.

Elaine died on October 30 last year at the age of 68 following a brain tumour.

Amy said in her post: “Some news.

“Since my beautiful mum passed away at the end of October, I decided I needed to do something that would help my grief move forward.

“My song 'Thank you mother' will be out on March 7 to raise awareness of brain tumours.

“Written by John Hurley.

“I love you mum.”

The Bolton News: Elaine and AmyElaine and Amy Elaine had performed with Marco Players, Phoenix Theatre, Farnworth Little Theatre, Farnworth Performing Arts, and more - with her daughter Amy following in her footsteps to become a professional actor.

Those who knew her described her as a ‘kind’, ‘talented’, and ‘wonderful’ person, who was a friend to many.

Elaine was also an established artist, and helped raise funds for The Octagon Theatre during lockdown, where her daughter has also performed.

She donated hundreds of pounds to support theatres through the pandemic through the sale of her paintings.
