Bolton’s David Potts has made it to the Celebrity Big Brother final - and apparently he is the nation’s favourite Celebrity Big Brother housemate.

The Little Lever Ibiza Weekender star has been revealed by BetVictor Casino as the nation’s favourite contestant ahead of tonight’s final, March 22 – while he is also the 4/9 favourite to win the show.

According to BetVictor Casino data from X (formerly known as Twitter) since the first Celebrity Big Brother episode launched on March 4, David has received the highest amount of positive social sentiment with 23 per cent, with his likeable and outgoing nature seeming to have won over viewers, while also suggesting he could be set to claim victory.

The 30-year-old is being supported across the borough especially by people in his local area.

Cllr Andrea Taylor Burke said she is so ‘proud’ of David.

She said: “I’ve known of David because he has been on reality TV before with Ibiza Weekender, but I think him going into Big Brother has been really good as people can find out the real him.

“He has such a personality that shows that he is actually quite confident and obviously going in Big Brother he has showed his sensitive side and showed a lot of people that he has overcome a lot from being a child to where he is now, he is a massive influence to youngsters going through similar things.

“It has been good to see that side of him and I am really proud because he is from Bolton but because he is also from Little Lever, he lives round the corner from me, and I’ve never really spoken to him, but I think as a councillor we should be supporting people in our community.

“Everyone should vote for him, get behind him, it’s free to vote, he is a Bolton lad, he is one of ours.

“David is putting Bolton on the map – what he stands for and he has gone on there with a really good heart, and he has changed my perception of him.

“There are many people who can relate to him, he has not gone in the house and upset anybody, he has not been rude, and he has not been nasty, he has just really been himself and it makes me proud that he is from where we live.

“Lets all get behind him and hopefully he wins.”

Whilst on the show David has shared many of his experiences growing up.

On the penultimate episode yesterday, March 21, Potts opened up about his experiences of of “coming out” as gay.

He said: “I knew there was something different at that stage, I mean I was like 12 so I didn’t know 100 per cent what it was, but I just knew it was different because I did have girlfriends and stuff, when I knew deep down that it wasn’t true.

“I left school when I was 16 and then that summer holidays as soon as I’d finished high school, that’s when I came out and told everyone.”

After Fern Britton asked him to explain more about the moment, he said his mother said it would be “fine” and his father told him “you don’t need to worry, it’s not (going to) change a single thing” before hugging him.

Sam Boswell, spokesperson of BetVictor, said: “After three weeks of unmissable entertainment in the Celebrity Big Brother house we’ve reached tonight’s grand final where only one housemate can leave crowned the victor.

“Our research has suggested David Potts is in a strong position to claim the crown, with the reality TV star appearing to be the UK public’s favourite housemate, having racked up the largest amount of positive social sentiment since the series kicked off with 23 per cent, while he is also our 4/9 favourite to win the show.

“Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kuzmin and Coronation Street’s Colson Smith follow closely behind on 22 per cent and 19 per cent respectively, while Fern Britton and Louis Walsh are seemingly the least popular with the public, which could hinder their chances of glory tonight.”

The ITV series live final airs on Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
