This great old photo from the archive shows lady members at Dunscar Golf Club getting in some putting practice in front of the clubhouse.

The Bolton News: Dunscar Golf Club, 1930

The photo dates to June 1930, as reflected in the fashions of the golfers.

We’re not sure how happy the greenkeeper would have been with the women in their kitten heels standing on the putting green. Perhaps they helped aerate the grass!

Dunscar Golf Club opened as a nine-hole course in 1909 and was extended to 18 holes after the First World War. It is still a thriving club today - just don’t try to wear heels on the greens!
