As the return to King's Landing has been announced for this year, two new teasers for the House of Dragon have been dropped - and heavily feature Oldham actress Olivia Cooke and her King son, played by Bolton's Tom Glynn-Carney.

HBO's House of the Dragon, a prequel to the Game of Thrones series created by George R.R. Martin,  is scheduled to hit our screens as early as summer this year.

It's the second fantasy drama series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise, based on Martin's 2018 novel, Fire and Blood.

The series kicks off almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Just days after its premiere in August 2022, the series was approved for a second season - and now this week, two trailers dropped with teasers of what to expect in another battle over the crown.

The first trailer for the season came in December 2023, presenting a return of Oldham's Olivia Cooke, cast as Alicent Hightower, and her son, the newly crowned Aegon II, performed by Bolton's Tom Glynn-Carney.

The trailer shows Daemon (Matt Smith) and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) going head-to-head for the iron throne against her half-brother, Aegon II Targaryen.

Fans have also been spoiled by the emergence of two more trailers released this week, a 'black trailer' and a 'green trailer', which gives a sneak peek into the impending battle from both sides.

The black trailer is from Rhaenyra's perspective, as Emma D'Arcy's voiceover says: "My father chose me as first born child to succeed him, and yet, Alicent's son sits on my throne."

"I need to fight this war - and win it", she adds.

The green trailer focuses on Alicent and Aegon, as she seeks to defend her son's 'right' to the throne.

In a voiceover, Olivia Cooke says: "Only weeks ago my lord husband was alive and the realm was at peace.

"On his death bed, he knew the realm would never accept a queen.

"Rhaenyra's supporters will believe what they wish, but Viserys wanted Aegon to succeed him."

Unsurprisingly, fire-breathing dragons, soldiers wielding swords and big character speeches are in abundance in the trailers, pointing to a jam-packed season of bloody battles.

Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon is seen sitting on the throne - and appears eager for the war.

In one scene, he says: "Plot against the king, and I will pay it back a hundred times over.

"I'm as fearsome as any of them."

When advised that the "path to victory is one of violence", Aegon says: "Good. To war then."

House of the Dragon is expected to land on streaming service NOW on June 17 this year.
