The local elections are upon us once again with the big day set for Thursday 2nd May (don’t forget your ID).

Bolton Conservatives will be putting the case that Bolton, under nearly 45 years of unbroken control by the Labour Party can do better.

Most of our candidates and councillors have come together not because we are particularly ideological, but we see our town declining and we want to stop it.

We are desperate to see our town and district centre’s revitalised.

It is why it remains our number one priority.

It is why in the four short years we had in control we brought millions of pounds worth of private and public investment to the town centre and to district centre’s like Farnworth Little Lever Horwich and Westhoughton.

You see the first green shoots of this investment in new affordable housing being built on brownfield sites like the old bus station, a refurbished central library, the market, and a new pocket park on the old Odeon cinema site.

Since they returned to power in May we have already seen them, reduce the beige bin collection service from fortnightly to monthly. This change is due to come in shortly, but we will stop it if elected. We have seen them dim streetlights by 30 per cent in order to hit their unfathomable net zero target by 2030.

These are vital services which you pay for and deserve.

We simply cannot bear to see our town decline, a decline which the Bolton Labour Party have overseen for so many years.

Conservative will invest in vital services like roads, pavements street lighting and bins we will not waste money on hitting totally unrealistic self-imposed net zero targets.

During our short four years in power, we invested an extra £12 million in fixing some of the massive backlog in potholes and we will use the airport dividend on doing just that.

In contrast in this year’s budget passed in May that vital investment has been cut.

We know that our town can do better than this and so do most residents. You know the Bolton Labour Party can’t fix many of the problems that they have presided over, for nearly half a century.

So, we will be out as volunteers and citizens of this town, come rain and shine for the next 4 weeks giving the residents of our great town and district centre’s the opportunity to vote for a credible alternative to the Bolton Labour Party.
