An award-winning actress who has previously starred in a popular TV show filmed in Bolton is set to star in a new Netflix spy thriller.

Sarah Lancashire will star as a secretive spy mistress in a six-episode Christmas mystery, Black Doves.

The new show will feature a star-studded cast including Keira Knightley, Tracey Ullman and Ben Whishaw.

The new series Sarah is to star in has been created and written by Joe Barton and follows an "unlikely spy/assassin duo" with Netflix stating it will offer up "high-stakes global intrigue as well as plenty of British wit, knife fights, and holiday (or anti-holiday?) cheer".
