The high street retailer moving into Market Place Shopping Centre has been named.

Leading shoe shop Deichmann is to open in the retail and leisure centre.

Deichmann, known for 'selling quality footwear at an affordable price' told The Bolton News it is to open a store in the town centre shopping complex.

The date of opening has not yet been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Deichmann said: “I can confirm that Deichmann is opening a new store in the Market Place Shopping Centre in Bolton, but we haven’t got a confirmed opening date just yet.”

This comes just a few weeks after the Market Emporium pop-up was moved to another location in the Market Place Shopping Centre and a sign was put up stating ‘watch this space - something is coming…’.

The Bolton News: The empty unit where something is soon to arrive

It has not yet been confirmed if Deichmann will be going into that specific unit but there is excitement surrounding the announcement of the store.

A customer shopping in the Market Place said: “I am really happy with the news that Deichmann will be opening soon in the Market Place. It is great to see new stores opening in the centre rather than shops closing across the town.”

The news of the opening also comes as Primark is set to open in the Market Place in the former Debenhams unit in late 2024/early 2025 dependant on construction works.

Earlier last year the clothing retail giant announced it was planning to move its store from Crompton Place to The Market Place Shopping Centre.

Plans have also been put in for Primark’s signage.

The Body Shop closed its doors due to the company going into administration.

The loss of Bolton’s Body Shop branches follows the departure of several other well-known names from the Bolton high street including Marks and Spencer, Wilko and Clinton Cards.

Flannels in Market Place also recently closed its doors.

But despite the closures, there is much excitement for the new opening.
