A local barber has been shortlisted as a finalist for a national award.
Jignesh Madhavji previously ran Jiggi Hair Salon before launching Jiggi Mobile Barbershop in June 2023 after becoming inspired to take his haircuts and beard trims on the road and at events, following the pandemic.
Jignesh's mobile business has now been recognised as one of just ten finalists for the new kid on the block award( best business start-up) for Small Awards.
Now in its eighth year, the Small Awards has continued to highlight some of the smallest businesses and firms in the UK, across all sectors, that are doing particularly well.
It is organised annually by Small Business Britain, which champions, inspires and accelerates the nation’s 5.5 million small firms.

Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain, said: “The Small Awards is all about celebrating the inspiring small business owners who are at the heart of the economy and their communities.
“They are an opportunity to recognise and applaud the passion and resilience of the nation’s small firms, particularly amidst such turbulent times.
“Jiggi mobile barbershop is extremely deserving of being shortlisted for this award and we can’t wait to celebrate with them in May.”
The award is sponsored by TSB and praises businesses that started in the last eighteen months and have demonstrated considerable progress to grow and develop.
With eleven different categories, the Small Awards celebrate the drive and resilience exhibited in the UK’s small business sector, across everything from sustainability to digital, and long-standing family businesses.
Judged by a panel of industry experts, the winners of all categories, including the overall winner of the Small Business of the Year award, will be announced at a special awards ceremony in London on May 16 2024.
The ceremony will this year be held at St Mary’s church in London, with plans underway for a night of entertainment, inspiration, and celebration for UK’s greatest small businesses.
