Works on a bridge in Bolton which reduces a stretch of a major road in the town to one lane have begun this week.
The project at the Eagley Brook Bridge will cause a reduction in traffic on Crompton Way.
The council has said the work will last for 14 weeks.
As a result, traffic has reduced to one lane in a western direction between Tonge and Astley Bridge.
The lane closure will be in place between Hallbridge Gardens and the business Van Leuuwen.
The works have begun today with workmen being spotted by commuters on their way towards Astley Bridge.
The aim is to improve the underside of the bridge.

A council spokesperson said: “Bolton Council would like to give advanced notice of refurbishment works to the underside of Eagley Brook Bridge, Crompton Way.
“These works are planned to start on April 22 for approximately 14 weeks.
“To facilitate these works, it will be necessary to reduce westbound traffic down to one lane, between Hallbridge Gardens and Van Leeuwen.
“Every effort will be made to keep possible disruption to a minimum.
“Bolton Council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to local residents and road users, your patience would be appreciated during this time.”
