A daughter who was surprising her Peter Kay super fan mum, has been left "upset and disappointed" after his Co-op Live gigs were postponed.

Clare Donovan, 39, was due to travel with her friend from Enfield to the opening night tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23, at the venue next door to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

Her mum Barbara got the tickets to go with her husband Alan, as a gift for her 70th birthday.

Barbara did not know that Clare was planning to meet her there along with some other family members.

Clare said: “Because we live in different parts of the country, we don’t have many occasions where we can all get together, and it was a milestone birthday.

“I understand security has to be the main priority, but it’s such late notice.”

Barbara is a huge Peter Kay fan, and she was going to travel all the way from Cardiff.

Now Clare and her family are faced with having to try and get refunds for hotels, trains, and the gig itself due to not being able to make the rescheduled dates.

Clare says that she found out the gig was postponed on X (formerly Twitter) and has had an email since.

Clare said: “She knew she was going but didn’t know we were coming.

“My dad was in on it, and it was going to be a surprise because she is a massive fan.

“It’s harder when you live further away.

“We also can’t get the time off work.”

Clare and her family have started the process of getting a refund for their tickets, but says it is yet to be confirmed.

She says that they are now just hoping that Peter Kay comes to London or Cardiff.

The Bolton-born comedian was set to perform as the first act at the huge 23,500 seat capacity venue tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 24.

The arena confirmed today, Monday, that the shows have now been rescheduled to take place next week, on April 29 and 30.

The shows were rescheduled due to a power supply issue.
