A Bolton man has been sentenced to a year-long community order after attacking a doorman and racially abusing a police officer in December.

Niall Briercliffe, of Church Avenue, Bolton, pleaded guilty to common assault and racial harassment at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in January this year.

Briercliffe was ejected from the Dragonfly pub, on Bradshawgate, on December 16, 2023.

He then became threatening towards door staff, punching a doorman twice and causing a small cut inside his lip.

The 30-year-old then racially harassed a police officer.

Briercliffe has been given a 12-month community order, with 10 rehabilitation days to be carried out in the Thinking Skills Programme.

He was also ordered to abstain from alcohol for 120 days and carry out 100 hours unpaid work.

Additionally, Briercliffe was ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
