THE last of the Horwich Junior Jubilee Series races saw more success for Horwich juniors.

Nathan Townsend returned from injury to win in a new course record of 5mins 1sec.

Lewis Wilkes held off strong competition from Clayton runner Thomas Bradley to take second place and the series win.

It is Lewis’s second series win of the summer and he has proven to be just as strong on the track, taking Nathan’s 1500m club record. Nathan Lancaster took the under-11s series win and Matthew Flatters won the u9s.

Other great performances came from Luke Brindle, Jacob Glendenning and Toby Middleton with strong runs in the series from Isaac Keating, Ben Flatters, Joshua Houghton, Theo Middleton and Luke Bellew. In the girls’ competition, Penny Townsend won the girls’ race with Amy Davies, of Blackburn, winning the series and the u13s category.

The u15s was won by Harriet Foley who seems to have improved all season. She was chased by Ella Pendlebury who produced consistently good runs on the fells and the road.

Freya Whittle claimed the u9s category with a stong finish in the series and credit should also go to Jessica Glendenning, Milly Lever, Olivia Baker, Isabel Keating and Lydia Johnson.
