STAR MAN

Zach Clough

After stealing the show against Wigan in the cup, the teenager once again took centre stage for Wanderers after recovering from injury and showed he was not just a flash in the pan. Two fine goals, another scintillating display, it would seem the cat is out of the bag now.

Wanderers

4-4-1-1

ANDY LONERGAN 6

Question mark over the first goal – should he have come to meet the ball quicker? Didn’t have much else to do and had no chance with Henry’s late effort.

JOSH VELA 6

Composed on the ball and linked up well with the midfield when he ventured forward. Rarely troubled by Benik Afobe, who was anonymous on his return.

DAVID WHEATER 8

Back in the side as skipper, Wheater was solid as a rock. Headed everything that came his way and made a couple of excellent tackles – including an early cruncher on Van La Parra.

DORIAN DERVITE 5

The Frenchman looked off the boil. Caught on his heels for the first goal and backing off the second, his use of the ball was not as crisp as it usually is too.

TIM REAM 7

His perseverance created the second goal for Clough, and Ream never stopped working down the left. Knitted together well with Pratley before he went off.

LIAM FEENEY 6

Feeney ran himself into the ground again for Wanderers but was showing signs of wear and tear before the end. One who looks in dire need of a rest.

NEIL DANNS 6

Kept beavering away in midfield and did well to break up a lot of Wolves possession but kept on turning into trouble when he had the ball himself.

LIAM TROTTER 7

Another positive performance for the midfielder who now seems to be finding his groove. Not everything came off – but his work-rate was excellent.

DARREN PRATLEY 6

Desperately unlucky to limp off a few minutes after the break. Was causing Wolves real problems with his non-stop running in the first half.

ZACH CLOUGH 8

Quite remarkable first half from the 19-year-old striker, with two fine finishes. His nan would have been doing cartwheels back home in Denton.

ADAM LE FONDRE 7

Used all his experience to keep the ball, running unselfishly all day. Went close with a couple of snap shots and looks a valuable addition to the squad.
